WHO DO YOU BLAME? A POEM

WHO DO YOU BLAME?

IN DEATH OR DISASTERS
IN HUNGER OR STARVATION
IN WARS OR CIVIL UNREST
IN FLOODS OR DRAUGHTS
IN EARTH QUICK OR CYCLONES
IN SICKNESS AND TERMINAL ILLNESS
IN DIVORCES OR DEPRESSIONS
WHEN YOUR CHILD RAN AWAY
IN BANKRUPTCY OR BUSINESS FAILURE
WHEN YOU LOST A JOB
WHEN YOU TRY AND FAIL
WHEN YOU ARE STANDING ALONE
IN SEDUCTIONS UNBECOMING
WHEN LOVE REFUSES TO ANSWER

WHO DO YOU BLAME?

Westernisation and modernisation

this is a topic i am slowly reading about. due to my exams pressure, i must leave it for now. but any interested Gambian or African can look into this topic. it is interesting because ,we as Africans seems to mix the two concepts. what is Western and what is modern? if we can differentiate the two, our cultures and way of life will be maintain and preserve.
the dress sense, the food, and the overall life style need systematically analysing and comparing against the ideal we took from our former colonial masters. more to be talked about. God give us strength, wisdom and humility.amen

the difference between rationalising and personalising

it is important that writers differentiate between rational and personal issues. when others write, it is important we don't take things personal and relate others comments to our behaviours and actions.
people are entitle to their independent opinion, positive or negative. the bigger picture is that we are individually insignificant if the common good is missed in our world view. small mindedness and thinking low of others is self-destructive. writing is not easy, what i write is a message for general consumption.

we are complex beings humans. very complex. i hope what i write is not seen as an attack or chastisement of any one. Allah is watchful over us all.

THE UNVEILING A POEM

THE UNVEILING

Not in the sense of the sufi babas
An unveiling that every being experience
The living beings
An experience that the unveiled is not normally aware of
A unique experience that all mothers under take
A command from our lord we all fulfil
The agents of this command are the parents
But who bears the most pain in this delicate journey?
These agents obey what has been ordain
Yet some will discount it has just an animalistic act which result in the unveiling
Many tried but resulted in nothing
A humble beginning it is
A pain for a long period
Between living and death it takes
Yet, the task is undertaken
THE UNVEILING

The difficult task is performed by our mothers
The sleepless nights
The discomfort throughout
The change of shape and taste
What an experience it is!
The final journey before we are unveil is marred in pain and love
Love for life and fear of death
Love for the new arrival and fear of losing both the passenger and transporter
A fear ingrain in us by nature
The unknown feeling
What is the most important profession mankind has?
I say motherhood and you say what?
All other professionals are unveiled by a mother
Yes a mother, joke with them not
Adore and love them
Look after them and care for them
Womanhood, not a weakness but the very essence of us being unveiled
Our route to this life, our end is different
My prayer goes to all expectant mothers, unveil that sweet being safely and OK as well
Be proud that you are a mother, president you bear them, kings you do also
Tycoon, you looked after, who is more qualified than you?
The unveiling

A journey that we all went through, how fable we are, arrogance, not suited for us
God look after us all, till we met you
